National Telecommunication Commission of Thailand
National Telecommunication Commission of Thailand is planning to withdraw the 3G license that was issued to TOT and auction it on December 1.
TOT will also have to participate in the auction along with the other players. Choochart Promphrasid (Chairman, NTC) stated that they will separate the used and unused part and take a decision as to whether to put up unused part for bid. The issuance of telecom licenses to TOT and CAT helped to expand the telecom industry.
TOT is planning to take over Thai Mobile from CAT. CAT's frequency band of 1900MHz and 2000MHz can be used for 2G and 3G services. Thai Mobile is currently using its 2G services only. TOT is proposing to start using 3G services as a new source of earnings. However, withdrawal of 3G might affect TOT's business.
